Grapefruit is a memeber of the citrus family. They are a round/ oblate fruit with a flattened bottom with a fine pale yellow skin and are approximately 10cm in diameter.

Uses- Grapefruit is customarily a breakfast fruit, chilled, cut in half, the sectionsloosened from the peel and each other by a special curved knife, and the pulp sooned from the "half-shell". Some customers sweeten it with a little whte or brown sugar or honey. Grapefruit segments can be added to the fruit compotes, sweet and savoury salads, used to make marmalades or in juice concoctions as a refreshing beverage. grapefruit segments or juice can also be utilised in chicken, pork or duck dishes as an accompaniment or as a tart marinade or sauce.
Nutrition-All citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C as well as other micro-nutrients, certain phyto-chemicals and fiber. Citrus fruits also protect against infection and cancer. They are an essential element in any healthy diet.
Grapefruit is high in vitamin C, potassium, several carotenoids including beta-carotene. The white pith contains pectin and bioflavonoids which makes grapefruits an excellent antioxidant food.
