PACKAGING QUESTIONS

1. I don’t want my fruit and vegetables wrapped in so much packaging, what can I do?

2. Why does my order come in a polystyrene box? Is this environmentally friendly?

PACKAGING ANSWERS

1. I don’t want my fruit and vegetables wrapped in so much packaging, what can I do?

We understand that not all of our customers want the same level of packaging. If you would like less packaging then please let us know and we will ensure that only minimal packaging materials are used for your order.

Please understand that this leaves your fruit and vegetables in a vulnerable state & left loose with damage potentially occurring in transit.

Plastic liners on the inside of your box are required by law because the boxes are recycled and the polystyrene is of a permeable condition.

2.Why does my order come in a polystyrene box? Is this environmentally friendly?

Using polystyrene boxes is a very environmentally sound choice. This is because we use recycled polystyrene boxes that have been through the recycling proccess and have been re-conditioned.

4. What is Biodynamic?

5. What is Chemical Free?

6. What is Low MRL?

7. What does IPM mean?

There are six AQIS-approved certifying organisations, AUS-QUAL Limited, Australian Certified Organic, Organic Food Chain, Bio-Dynamic Research Institute, NASAA Certified Organic and Tasmanian Organic-Dynamic Producers.

2. What does Eco-Friendly mean?

This refers to farmers and producers that contribute to green living or practices that help conserve resources like water, air and energy. Growers and producers engage in Eco-Friendly habits or practices such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) by being more conscious of how they use their resources.

3. What is In-Conversion (IC) To Organic?

In-Conversion products are those on their way to becoming fully certified organic. This requires a minimum of 12 months verified conformance with the AQIS standard. When Australian consumers purchase In-Conversion product, they are recognising the additional work and costs involved in the conversation and it helps our farmers go fully organic.

4. What is Bio-Dynamic?

Biodynamic more than excludes the use of artificial chemicals, practitioners seek to understand and work with the life processes as well as increase their understanding of the mineral processes used in conventional agriculture. Healthy solid is the essential basis for health plants, animals and people.

5. What is Chemical Free?

Farmers are educated on the ill effects of chemicals in farming techniques and they practice natural farming techniques that help improve soil fertility and better yield of chemical free, organic crops thereby improving the economics of farming.

6. What is Low MRL?

MRL stands for Maximum Residue Level and is the maximum amount of residue legally permitted on food. MRL’S are set by independent scientists, based on rigorous evaluation of each pesticide legally authorised. Low MRL produce is produce that is farmed well below the MRL set standard and is environmentally conscious, considers IPM programs and minimal chemical usage/residue.

7. What does IPM mean?

IPM stands for Integrated Pest Management. IPM programs have been developed to decrease the net quantity of pesticides required in many types of agriculture. IPM uses biological, cultural, and natural pest predators as substitutes for synthetic pesticides. IPM practices safer, natural and often less expensive than conventional agriculture and can be more cost effective on a large scale than organic production.
